Ribs some of the best I have had. Great smoke ring. Pulled pork platter was way to greasy. Glad we found this place would go back but will pass on the pulled pork.

4.5 stars Stopped by here since it was a stone's throw away from the Stonewall Resort. None of the restaurant options at the resort wowed us and we wanted to go somewhere local. I had the ribs, and my dining companion grabbed some pulled pork. His dish was good. Mine was definitely the better find. 5 Stars for the ribs alone! Have you ever gone back to a rib you already gnawed on because it tasted so good? The smoke ring alone (see here yelp.com/biz_photos/2u5W… ) on the ribs tell you exactly how smokey and tender they are. I nibbled on those ribs twice after i set them down! Comes with a couple sides. I thought the stewed apples were okay, and the green beans were fine. Definitely get the sauteed mushrooms and onions though, those are definitely worth it. Service was quick and friendly. Also, beware that Route 19 is out from one direction, and that cell phone service is scarce.

I at the Hickory House here twice, I'd give it 5 stars and 3 stars based on those visits. My first visit, very pleased. Ordered the BBQ pork platter. The BBQ was delicious, not drenched in sauce, minced vs pulled, but minor point. My second visit, ordered Ribs, they were over cooked and dry. Both times got the baked beans, and excellent candied apples as sides. Want bread? Ask. I enjoyed quick and friendly service on both visits. Two sauces on the table for those who feel the need. North Carolina style, very good, and a sweet-smokey sauce. Both tasted home made. Far better than the fast food options nearby, Hickory House is worth the drive off the highway and out of Weston.

Determined to incorporate local barbecue into our meals as we drove from Florida to Lake Erie and cycled back, lunch time (and our third barbecue in two days) came as we neared Weston, WV. With solid reviews on tripadvisor and Yelp, we exited the interstate and made our way to the Hickory House Restaurant. It was a good choice. We arrived around noon and were promptly seated by a young woman who needed a briefer on customer service. Our waitress, however, was friendly as was the atmosphere in the busy restaurant. We ordered a pair of sandwiches: pulled pork and beef brisket having been advised that the brisket was moist because it was a little fatty (as is the best beef brisket I've had; this wasn't!) The pulled pork sandwich was a little smokey but, otherwise, dry and short on taste, needing sauce for rescue. The beef brisket was moist, smokey, beefy and, overall a good BBQ experience, but nowhere near the best. The baked beans and cole slaw were not sweet, as they often are in barbecue restaurants and better than average. The overall barbecue experience was a solid average, but enjoyable. If I were passing Weston on the interstate around lunchtime, I'd return for the brisket.

This is some of the best barbeque I have ever had from any where in the country.

Stopped here on our return trip home to Pittsburgh from Atlanta. I was looking for something on yelp and after searching 3 times this place came up. O.M.G. we got the pickles as recommended here. I don't even like pickles but I tried them and we ended up bringing a quart home. I got the brisket sandwich and my hubby got the pulled pork. Hands down the best brisket I've ever had and I'm a foodie. Can't say enough good about this place. Clean, very friendly staff and great service. Well worth the short out of the way drive to get there.

Visited for my dad's birthday. We started with an order of onion petals which the waitress said they're now onion straws. We gave those a try. They were very tasty, but for $8 the serving size left more to be desired. We each only got a couple. My brother ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs and fries and his fries were basically nonexistent. My dad and I ordered the full rack meal which came with beans, Cole slaw, and cinnamon apples. I also added an order of Mac and cheese for a steep $4. The ribs were wonderful and fall off the bone. We didn't like either of the sauce options so we just ate them without. The Mac and cheese wasn't bad but wasn't good. The beans and cole slaw were good. Splitting the full rack meal between two people is a good idea. Service was lacking. We went a long time without drinks and napkins. Overall the actual meat was delicious. Appetizer and sides left more to be desired as well as the service

Marketed as the "Best BBQ in WV".... And they are probably correct.... Decor is nice, service is ok, wait for food is longer than expected, quality of food is Good, after eating here multiple times though taste vary based on the day you go.... Much better for lunch than for dinner.... pulled jalapeño pork or brisket and cheddar sandwich are best on menu.... Ribs are A-.... If you are looking for something extraordinary Hot Pickles are what you seek!! Made there exclusive..cut off from the world is the only draw back, as there is no cell service and limited wifi.... It's not a bad place to disconnect from the grid!!

After seeing several signs along interstate 79 for the Hickory House I figured it was about time to stop by. I am a Barbecue nut so I was very happy to say the least. When I pulled in I could smell the smokers immediately which is always a great sign. I had the brisket platter with garlic mashed potatoes and slaw. The brisket had a great smokey flavor and was extremely tender and juicy, the sides were great despite being fairly simple dishes. I highly recommend a side order of their house made pickles, they were worth the price. They also make a delicious coconut cream pie if you like that sort of thing. The ambiance of the place is exactly what one would expect from a great off the beaten path barbecue joint. Overall I say that this place is excellent and well worth the visit, even if it's out of the way.

Really, really good food. We came to Weston for the Halloween Asylum Ball, found this hidden gem here on Yelp, so glad we decided to try it out. The wife doesn't like bbq, I of course love it, so she was hesitant at first. That changed within a few minutes and now we're planing on going again before we leave town in a few days. At first it seemed more pricy, but once we got our food I noticed the portions were huge, so it evened out. The bbq sauce was really good so I bought a quart to take home. The place had a easy going vibe and the staff was really friendly. Recommended for any bbq lover.

I've ate here a few times over the last 4 years, always good. The pulled pork is excellent, as is the brisket. Baked beans are good, but don't miss the garlic mashed potatoes.....excellent! Staff were friendly and fast. Drove about half an hour out of our way to eat here several times in about a week. Well worth it.

Our service and food were oustanding! (Two great restaurants in the greater Weston area, who knew?) I love BBQ but we don't have any places I really like at home so I was anxious to give this place a try. It's on the 101 list ( wvcommerce.org/travel/th… ) so my significant otter was game. When we arrived the place was packed, but soon emptied as folks headed to the local HS football game. I had a pulled pork sandwich and the otter had ribs. Everything was finger-licking good. It's all served sauceless - they do season/smoke the meat - so you can put on your own sauce from the bottles on your table. When our server learned we hadn't been there before, she brought us one of their homemade spicy, sweet pickles to try. We ended up going back early Sunday morning to pick some up to bring home to share - very spicy with a good flavor. Get off the interstate and take a convenient backroad to this great little restaurant.

Stopped in here for dinner on a weekend getaway. I had the ribeye, my girlfriend had the jalapeno brisket melt. Both were quite tasty, and the prices were reasonable. The staff was very friendly, as well, and the service was fast on a Saturday night. The house made pickles were also very good. In a town that is lacking in local eateries, this is the place to go.

Considering this is a small town, this is a restaurant that would be home in a metro area. The food is excellent.

On a cross country trip our group wanted to find a local restaurant. The Hickory House was great. The BBQ was excellent. Service for a group of eleven was great. I would go back and try more of their menu items.

This place has smokin' BBQ! Lunch is always packed. The staff are always on their toes. If there is such a thing as REAL WV BBQ then this is it. I like their pulled pork sandwich best for lunch. My dad's favorite is the fully loaded potatoe. This does not mean just sour cream and butter. This is the works with BBQ pork, beans-- everything but the kitchen sink stuffed into a gigantic potatoe. Jane Lew is tiny, but if you find yourself headed out to Stonewall Jackson for a meeting, convention, or festival DEFINITELY make this a stop along your way

The pulled pork is wonderful but the service has been consistently bad and occasionally borders on rude. It takes forever to get the food and once it's there you probably won't see the waiter until you hunt them down to ask for the bill.

Very good place. Had the pork platter. Meat was a bit dry but it was closing time so they suggested their 2 sauces. Also slaw was great and NO seeds. Beans were good as well as the candied apples. And fastest service ever.

The pulled pork sandwich here was the reason I would drive 35-40 minutes to get lunch. Haven eaten there a few times that is the best. The ribs hold their own too but the pulled pork knocks it out of the park . The sauce they provide in a squeeze bottle on the table rocks too, not too sweet and not too smokey. great BBQ.

good food...some of the best in the area. BBQ was a little dry but the brisket more than made up for it.

Driving back to Toronto after a Florida vacation, I stopped in Weston for the night. I Yelped for a good local dinner, and Hickory House came up. Good thing! The service was friendly, and the pulled pork was great.
